Can a foreigner travel from dubai to jeddah?

I m a pakistani student and will soon be visiting Duabi can some one tell me that if i can travell by road from dubai to jeddah on some transport. Is it permitted? and is there any transport avialable for that purpose?

admin answers:

Hi,

Saudi Arabia to not provide tourists with visas. You can only obtain a residence- , business-, pilgrim-, work- or transit visa.

For these kind of visas (exept pilgrim visas) you need a local sponsor in Saudi Arabia.

http://www.southtravels.com/middleeast/saudiarabia/visa.html

There are e few exeptions: if you book an organized tour thourgh a travel agency,

In other words, when you, as a Pakistani National, come to Dubai for vacation, you can not go to Saudi without having a local sponsor there.

If you want to obtain an pilgrim visa, you would have to that to a travel agency in Pakistan recognized by the Saudi Authority.

Ship travelling from Dubai to Canada & Asutralia?

Hi all,
I am interseted to travel to Canada or Aus from Dubai through ship, is this possible and is their any shipping service, if so what are the fares for Canada and Aus respectively and how much time it will take to reach over their.

Thanks!

admin answers:

If you mean a cruise there is one but goes via red sea/ Mediterranean / Atlantic (it makes stops all over Europe) , not thru southern oceans . I never heard of an Australia to Dubai cruise but you could probably find a spot on shipping vessels which are plenty on that route. Otherwise find Dubai to India ferry / passenger boat or some thing , then find another ship from there .

Lizzie asks…

travel from Dubai to Norway?

admin answers:

I recommend Lufthansa via Munich/Germany to Oslo 11.45hrs or SAS via Copenhagen to Oslo 10,25 hrs.
These are the fastest and cheapest flights (under USD 1.000), whereas flying with Emirates will cost between USD 2.000 – 3.000 depending on the season you’ll travel.

James asks…

What is appropriate to wear in Dubai?

Hey, I’m 13 and I’m going to visit Dubai from the 27 till the 5 of January. My friends lives there and so I know it will be hot even during that period. I was wondering what I should wear, I mean I don’t want to feel uncomfortable. Usually during that type of weather I wear shorts and a t-shirt or maybe a tank top, but I’m not sure if I can. Shorts I wear are usually half way from the knee and t-shirts are normal ones. I’ve been looking this up and sometimes it says shorts must be up to the knee and NO tank tops, but on other sites it say both are allowed as long as no bare midriffs and shorts don’t look like underwear. I’m really not sure…
Yeah, I know it’s not gonna be THAT hot but I live in Italy, and I’m quite strange. For me 20 degrees is hot, and now that it’s around 5-10 degrees I go around with jeans and a t-shirt with a hoodie or something.

admin answers:

I lived in Dubai. There is a wide range of clothes that people wear ~ from women being totally covered to young people wearing shorts. Those who are covered find it somewhat embarrassing to be with a woman who is wearing short-shorts and a tank-top. You’ll get some people staring at you–and not in a good way (from both the women and men.) If you are being a tourist, (going on a tour bus or entering a mosque or other religious sights), it is expected of you to not only be a bit more covered/conservative but also with a scarf of some sort (over your head and shoulders). I always kept one handy in my bag. You just never know when you might come in contact with someone who is offended by your dress. As a guest, it is best to ‘people-please’ a bit.

It can be offensive to wear anything that is super tight, short or showy. I felt comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt. I also wore a light, fun flowing dress (that I put a shrug over the bare arms.) You’ll have fun with your friend. It’s expensive but such a fantastic place to enjoy! If you’re out at night with friends, and in a place with other young expats from a variety of countries, you’ll be able to dress more as you like.

Have fun!

Susan asks…

What are rules in Dubai? Especially for dressing.?

admin answers:

From Dec. 27th and Jan 5th you will be good in Jeans, T-Shirt and a light jacket. Weather won’t be hot at all. Temperature might be around 20Grad Celsius. It’s winter time! “Very hot” is during summer only.

Therefore no stress regarding any dress code. In case you ever should visit in the summer time: swim wear at the beach/pool only and otherwise just “normal” clothes. Yes, you can wear waht you want like tank tops, shorts, etc but then you may receive unwanted attention. To avoid this, just wear normal T-Shirts instead of T-Tops.

Take care.

Stuff to buy in London they don’t have in Dubai?

I live in Dubai, and I know there’s all sorts of things they don’t have in Dubai that are sold in Europe, but exactly what things do you highly reccomend to try out in London? I’m travelling there in November, and I am only going to Stratford-Upon-Avon and Kensington. So please refer to things purchasable in those locations. Thanks for your tips!

P.S: If there are any other things I would need to know about London, such as customs, that are different to here in Dubai, please let me know! Thanks again!

Does anyone have any suggestions I could give my mother about me traveling alone?

So I’m 16 and I’m trying to go see my boyfriend of 10 months who had to move to Dubai a month ago (I’m planning to see him in February for our anniversary). My mother knows him and has met his mother a few times but is uneasy about letting me travel alone to get from gate to gate, etc. And I wanted to know if anyone had some suggestions I could run by her to try and ease her mind about it.

I also:
- Found a decently priced flight that I will be paying for alone
- Made sure that the tickets are refundable (which is kind of hard to find) in case something comes up
- And made sure the flight had only one stop, which is in a city only a few hours from where I live.
- Cleared with my boyfriends mother who would be picking me up, where, and where I would be staying (they have a guest room)

So please, if anyone has travelled alone at around 16 and has any tips or suggestions for my mother I would greatly appretiate it.

admin answers:

Have his mom calls yours. So they can talk it out. I’m sure his mom will tell her, she’ll take good care of you and watch carefully. And I’m sure you’ll call her everyday.

You pretty much have everything I would’ve thought of. :) Have fun, if she lets you go!

George asks…

What’s the difference between Atlantis and Atlantis the Palm Dubai?

I am going to Atlantis The Resort in The Bahamas with my dad, sis, sister’s friend, and my friend. My dad put me in charge of finding the best room and best prices. I want to stay in a nice room in the Royal Towers but they look really crappy. And the Palm Dubai looks ahmazing! but what is the difference?? and Are the rooms nice or not? HELP!! 10 points best answer!!

admin answers:

I think the main (obvious) difference between the one in the Caribbean and the one in Dubai is the distance. If you’re in the US, it’s a lot easier to get to the Bahamas.

The regular rooms in the Royal Tower don’t look super-luxurious, but the suites look really nice. There’s also the Harborside Resort, which offers 2 and 3 bedroom villas. Not sure about the price, though.

Donald asks…

how many beds do you find in a triple room at the Atlantis Dubai and Westin Dubai?

Please advise as it is 2 adults and a child. Does the parents get a double n the kids a single

admin answers:

Yes as you mention every room will be having a bed ,and in master a big bed, secondly you can always ask for extra/change bed from house keeping and some time they charge a minor fee, some time free if you know how to get it(offer small tip to bell boy)——–cheers

Travel To Dubai From Us

John asks…

Phone calls from dubai airport?

I’m travelling to india from US via Dubai. how can i make calls (local and international) from the Dubai airport. Let me know the best way.
how can i use the public phone in airport.

admin answers:

The easiest and most trouble free method is to buy a pre-paid phone card. Once you use up the credits you don’t have to worry about mystery charges and all the other BS phone networks throw at you.

One thing’s for sure, I would not use my roaming cell phone plan, I’ve heard horror stories of $3,000 statements after just a weeks vacation in europe.

I am an India traveling to India via Dubai from US. I have a stop over at Dubai airport for 7 hours and would like to meet a friend in between. What type of visa do I need? Is it possible? I am not using a travel agent in US or a hotel to stop over at Dubai. I just want to get out of immigration to meet my friend and get back to catch the flight.

admin answers:

Ask your travel agent in US to get you a visa… It’s easy now days… In Dubai they issue electronic visa… So you won’t have any problems…

Alternatively ask any hotel in Dubai and they will issue a visa for you immediately… You will probably need to pay for a day or so!!! Which is nothing!!!!
