BUT MY CONNECTION FLIGHT FROM DUBAI TO KERALA 15HRS DELAY .WE WOULD LIKE TO GO OUT OF DUBAI AIRPORT.WE WOULD NOT WANT ANY HOTEL ACCOMADATION .BECAUSE OUR FRIENDS&RELATIVES OVERTHERE. MY YOUNGEST CHILD HOLDING BRITISH PASSPORT AND OTHERS ARE INDIAN PASSPORT HOLDERS

admin answers:

The Indian passport holders of your family need a Transit visa.

In case you will travel Emirates Airlines this can be arranged by the airlines itself. But if flying through another Airlines, you have to contact directly the Marhaba Services, the details of which are as follows:

Marhaba Services
Tel: 2164629 (Visa Section)
Tel: 2062709 (Main Office in the Airport)
E-mail: marhaba@emirates.com

You can travel without prior arrangement of transit visa. As soon as you arrive at the airport you have to approach any of the Marhaba staff and you will be guided to the Marhaba Visa counter for any arrangement.

Have a safe trip!

Edit Vinod 2008: I do not know where you are getting your information from, but fact is, the Embassy only issue visas for diplomatic or service visits. Point blanc. Transit visas will be issued through Emirate Airlines (flying into Dubai) or the Marhaba Service dircetly.

Hi,
I am an engineer residing in Kuwait and planning to go for short vacation of 4 days to Dubai along with my family. I have already booked my tickets Through Jazeera Airways.
Please advise can I get on arrival visa in Dubai airport. Also please note that I have not made any hotel bookings as i will be staying in my Friends house.

regards,

Y.Vimalanathan.
please note that i am indian citizen working in kuwait on renewable 2years visa contract in kuwait, with family status.

admin answers:

Hi,

Yes you and your Family (wife, kids, if sponsored by you in Kuwait) get a visa on Arrival at any Entry port in United Arab Emirates, if you are an Engineer and your visa profession says that you are Engineer too then my answer is 100% yes.

I have a an Engineer visa too and I travel around in GCC and offcourse get a visa on arrival except Saudi Arabia.

(No Matter what so ever your Nationality is, all it depends is your profession on visa)

Carol asks…

Emirates Airlines long stopovers?

I am travelling with Emirates Airlines from Islamabad to Glasgow via Dubai. I have 22 hours before i catch Glasgow bound plane. Will Emirates give me a hotel to stay/sleep (like Etihad Airline does) or do i have to stay in lounge the whole time? If they do offer a hotel stay, is that complementary? will i be able to go out of the airport/hotel to look around downtown?

Thanks in advance :)
@Shaaniya
Thanks for the advise :p but I ‘m looking for someone who has experienced this situation. Plus its more fun asking questions on this platform :p
Regards

admin answers:

As a special courtesy to passengers, in certain cases where an itinerary calls for a long stopover in Dubai, Emirates will cover accommodation, meals and ground transportation costs.

This service is offered to:

Economy Class passengers
If the booking class for the entire outbound or inbound leg of their journey is N, M, E, W, or Y.
If the connection time until the first available flight is more than 8 hours and less than 24 hours.
Business and First Class passengers
If the booking class for the entire outbound or inbound leg of their journey is D, C, J, Z, A, or F.
If the connection time until the first available flight is more than 6 hours and less than 24 hours.
Long stopover expenses may also be covered in other cases, such as Skywards redemption bookings, and other rules may apply.

Please check with your local Emirates office at the time of booking or prior to commencement of travel. Long stopover expense cover must be pre-booked, and Emirates is only able to accept bookings made one day before the day of departure at the latest.

Nancy asks…

Transit in Dubai-for indian passport holders?

Hello! We (me & my wife) are going to India via Dubai. We have a transit time of around 16 hrs. and i feel that’s a pretty long time to stay at the airport. We shall be landing in Dubai at around 5 am and leaving Dubai at 10 pm both in emirates flights..
I would like to know if we can get a transit visa to go into the city. I checked with the emirates office and came to understand that they will be processing our transit visa only if we are booking a hotel room through them, which i think is not worth as we will not be staying in the hotel anyway and will have to shell out at least USD 215 for not using the service.. So please let me know how we can get the transit visa…your suggestion will be appreciated…
Dear Sas…,
Thank you for your response. But i think u got my qns wrong.. we dont intend to take the hotel service as it will be an unnecessary expense. We rather will be going for a city tour may be…what i actually wanted to know is that whether we can get a transit visa at the immigration without taking any hotel accommodation..The emirates airline ppl are trying to package my visa with the hotel which i wud like to avoid..
Hopw u got my query..pls advice…

admin answers:

U should insist on the airline providing with hotel acomodation as the halt in dubai is more then 8 hrs . I think thats the rule.
Check with the IATA rules.
That case they will give u accomodation and visa to get u out of the hotel into the city . From there u can go for site seeing

Daniel asks…

Does anybody know any cheap hotels (2-3 star) in Dubai which are close to the beach or short distance away?

admin answers:

Cheap and Dubai are words that don’t go together very well. But I suppose it all depends on your definition of what cheap is.

The Holiday Inn Express at Jumeirah Beach is usually at least half the rate of other hotels in the area. At least it’s in the general vicinity.

Dubai Hotel Prices

John asks…

What’s a good/ reasonably priced hotel to stay at in Dubai?

Anyone recommend a really good hotel in Dubai – not too expensive, but good location, good facilities etc

admin answers:

I really like the Palm Hotel Dubai but it is way down in Jemariah Beach. The Hard Rock is there though and it is close to Ibn Battuta Mall and the Mall of the Emirates. It also has good facilities and is a good price.

The Sea View in Bur Dubai is a good location and not a bad hotel, I think it is a little over priced for what it is but it does the trick.

I have a lot of friends who have stayed in the Ascot and the York International and they liked them. The York is cheep too. Both have a bit of a high hooker population though. They are both in Bur Dubai.

I stayed at the Sheraton in Deira once and it was really nice and I got a good internet special on their website.

Check www.southtravels.com for the best rates on the other hotels though.

Mandy asks…

Am going to the Dubai World Cup & need a recommendation for a reasonably priced hotel close to the action?

We will only be going to the races on Saturday, so proximity to the racecourse doesn’t really matter – but close to the nightlife and shops in Dubai would be ideal!

John asks…

why do air flights take a certain route when another can be less in distance

I recently had an oppurtunity to fly from Dubai to Houston taking a direct flight. Before this i use to take connecting flights from london so i assumed it was logical that we would fly over Iceland Greenland and canada to enter US and go to Houston. But when i took the direct flight it too almost took the same route without stooping over England. What i don’t understand is that why did it not go over the Meditrainan beld Atlantic into USA via Florida and so on or a similar route.’Could somebody explain.

admin answers:

You actually did take the shortest route. On a flat map, East-West distances are much closer towards the top and bottom of the map (actually the top edge of the map, the North pole, is a single point in reality. The same is true for the South).

Look at this map of your route:

http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=dxb-iah%0D%0A&RANGE=&PATH-COLOR=red&PATH-UNITS=mi&PATH-MINIMUM=&SPEED-GROUND=&SPEED-UNITS=kts&RANGE-STYLE=best&RANGE-COLOR=navy&MAP-STYLE=ortho&MAP-CENTER=kef

A curve over the Mediterranean and Florida would have been much farther.

However, to answer your question in general, aircraft also take various routes to avoid weather, to avoid other traffic, to stay within required range of an airport (often 3 hours), or in a very few cases to avoid hostile countries’ airspace. The latter is rare – US airlines will fly over Cuba, for instance, and those two countries don’t like each other very much.

I don’t think many people know your profession as it’s not that common when it comes to say an accountant, banker etc. Still white-collar average salary ranges from 2, 500 upwards depending on how much they have offered u. Pl do take into account your residence, food etc when striking a deal as cost of these two things have gone up especially in Abu Dhabi. All the best!
