Carol asks…

I Need Help With This Elevator Question!?

I am planning a building that would basically be a copy of the CN Tower in Toronto but it would be about twice the height. It would have the world’s fastest elevator, traveling at a speed of 73 feet per second or 50 mph. The elevator speed would beat today’s record of the Taipei 101′s 37.5 mph (and soon the Burj Dubai‘s 40 mph). To get to 50 mph, it would take 15 seconds-meaning that the elevator would accelerate 3.33 mph every second for 15 seconds until it reaches 50 mph. Could anyone tell me the distance it would take for the elevator to reach 50 mph if accelerating at a constant 3.33 mph every second? And also I would like to know how long it would take for the entire elevator ride to 3,000 feet-that includes the time to reach 0-50 mph, the constant speed of 50 mph, and then the decelleration time from 50 to 0 mph. I’m not talking about how long it would take if going 50 mph to reach 3,000 feet because I already know that. I am talking about how long it would take for the elevator-
continued- to reach the top involving the acceleration, constant speed, then the decelleration.

admin answers:

550 feet at .15g…….

56 seconds from bottom to top……..

..

*** post script there is no deceleration, it is acceleration, with a plus or minus……. Doesn’t matter if you are slowing down or speeding up..

Bastardazation of physics in language is the basis of the same to theory…

Why are Emirati people so rich….!?!?!?

I’m a Somali-American, and I’m living with my Aunt for 1 year in Dubai for school. She and her husband and kids are Somali ethnicity, but Emirati nationality and she’s so rich. They have a mansion, like a 10 minute walk from Dubai mall, or the Burj Khalifa.

They have Mercedes, land rovers, Lexus, and porsche cars. They buy a new car every year! They took me to Dubai Mall, and they literally bought me a blackberry torch, blackberry play book, and almost 2,000 dirhams worth of clothes!!

They’re buying a new house with a elevator next month! They have like 4 maids too.

They spend there money like water lol.

admin answers:

They have 4 maids? Do the maids have brand new land rovers? You have answered your own question. They are not all rich. They actually have huge amounts if people living on very low incomes who they exploit. They have a lot of oil rich people as they export a lot of oil at huge prices set by the cartel known as OPEC. They don’t like to know about the poor people or other nations knowing about it so they don’t put it in the holiday brochures.

Did you think the maids were all millionaires?!

For AED 200 you can buy some souvenirs. Maybe a Pashmina, T-Shirt, etc. Shops at Duty Free offer a varity of souvenirs.

Accommodation In Dubai For Rent

Ruth asks…

How much will it cost for a married couple to rent a room or house in Dubai.?

We are Filipinos who are about to go to Dubai. There’s a hotel accommodation for two weeks provided by our employer. Afterwards, we have to find a cheaper house or room for accomodation.

admin answers:

Rents are very high all over the dubai. Studio flat will cost around 55k -75k yearly. Its better that you look for 1B/R in sharjah or ajman where rents are compartively lower than Dubai. Refer this site for more information on rental properties in dubai , sharjah and ajman. Http://www.gnads4u.com/properties

Nice areas to live in in Dubai?

Hi folks, I am moving to Dubai to work after Christmas and would appreciate if i could have the names of nice areas to rent accommodation in. I am a single female so no retirement home areas for me just yet please!!!

admin answers:

The Dubai Marina is the new hot spot, lots of great restaurants and bars open or opening soon. The place to be if you’re single!

Chris asks…

In Dubai…………….?

1:How much is a laptop?
2:I heard there no places to buy clothes for reasonable price. True? (not branded stuff)
3:How much does internet cost?Who is the best ISP?
4:Can we use Skype?
5:Wen you rent an apartment, do u get a fridge? stove? washer? gas?
6:Is 2600AED enough for a single guy to live?(when you employer provides accommodation)
7:What should I NOT do when living there?
Overall how is living there? fun?
@ Fairies wear boots…..Its at Dubai metro…u think its a bad decision?

admin answers:

1) Prices differ
2) Not true, you can find some extremly cheap places but can’t espect good quality.
3) Flat rate = AED 249/ Etisalat
4) Only when downloaded aboard
5) Only when you rent a furnished apartment
6) AED 2.600 is enough only if you mantain a verly low lifestyle.
7) Break any laws/rules

May I ask what job you are ready to take for such a low salary? AED 3.000 is considered poverty. Your english is to good making such little money and there are chances to become frustrated instead of having fun. Please think twice.

Edit: I don’t know about Dubai Metro as an employer. It depends on the job you are doing for them. You just sound as an American (?) and would be the first one I come across working for that kind of salary. Our Indian coffee boy i.e. Received AED 3.000 + housing.
