hotels near the Shangri-la Hotel, Dubai, UAE?
I am going to a confrence in Dubai taking place at the Shangri-la Hotel. However, I would like to find a less expensive option in close walking distance? Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, in summer, there is no walking option in dubai since by day it reaches 45 celcius and higher…by night it is in the high 30s and really humid, so if you wanna reach your conference really sweaty, walking is your best bet.
In that general area, across the road from Shangri La, you have the Dusit Hotel and close by to that is the Rotana Hotel. Further up the road (Sheik Zayed Road) there is the Emirates Towers which contain a hotel, and there is the Fairmont Hotel.
While Emirates Towers and Shangri La are probably the most expensive of them all, the rest are in the range of 4 or 5 star hotels as well. Those are the only hotels in the area, unless you go towards the Bur Dubai area which i would not recommend. Your best bet is Deira area, but thats about a 15 min drive from Shangri La and up to an hour or more in the traffic plauging dubai nowadays.

Al Qasr in Madinah Jumeirah!!! I think the tennis players stayed there during the Dubai Open.
Royal Mirage (from the One and Only chain) is at the beach close to the Palm Jumeirah…. Very nice and romantic.
And if you want to experience the desert go to the Bab Al Shams resort.

but the European Union is afraid of calling a spade a spade. Their statement of condemnation has no value without mentioning the name of Israel which has been named by Dubai authorities. Is EU afraid of Israel which is surviving on the doles of these nations??

Because you are not talking about heroes or brave men here. It’s well known that the Palestinians are tough FREEDOM FIGHTERS since they are fighting for a just cause unlike those who stole the lands and sneak into sovereign countries to commit crimes, terrors, identity thefts….etc.
I do believe the passports were fake due to the outrage in EU. No European country want to be involved in such criminal act.. French president called the assassination a crime and strongly denounced like all the EU countries.
