Which hotels in Dubai have a nice beach and yet are close to the shopping, souqs and activities of the city?

admin answers:

Anywhere down the Dubai Marina area have great beaches ( Ritz Carlton, Hilton, Sheraton, Wistin, La Meridian, Harbtor Grand). Like most accommodation in Dubai, these are a bit pricey, but, it’s the best place to stay and taxis are very cheap. Great shopping near by, but the souks are about a 30-40 drive. You wouldn’t want to stay near them anyway, there in the older part of Dubai. Good Luck!

David asks…

What is the market share of hotels in Dubai’s hospitality industry?

total number of hotels in Dubai.

admin answers:

First thing , see this web site

http://www.choosedubai.com/en/

There are over 200 hotels in Dubai
second thing that it is not only the hotels you count there. Lots and lots of different accommodation facilities are available in the hospitality business there. In a city full of foreigners like Dubai, the market share of hotels may not exceed 5% of the hospitality market

Joseph asks…

Accommodation In Dubai

Susan asks…

How much spending money should I take for 2 week holiday to Dubai (Accommodation is paid for)?

I’m going to Dubai for 2 weeks holiday in April. I am unsure how much spending money to take, can anyone provide a rough guide on how much I would need? Accommodation has been paid for. Answers in Australian Dollars please.

admin answers:

Just take your credit card and be flexible. You can change AUD into AED as soon as you arrive at Dubai Airport. Get around AED 1.000 in smaller notes to pay tips /cabs and buy stuff at places where credit cards are not accepted.

ATM maschines and exchange places can be found everywhere all over Dubai, especially in Malls.

No idea how much spending money you’ll need, because this depends on what you want to do/where to go and your kind of shopping, which you did not mention.

affordable accommodation in Dubai?

I am a South African planning to spend two night sin Duabi in Jnauary. I need affordable accommodation that will provide a clean and safe place to rest. Please help. I have a family of 5 and therefore the price needs to be low.

admin answers:

Well, your question is actually a simple one to reply but with that “family of 5″ info – it becomes a challenge.

I would recommend a really budget accomodation for your family of 5 for 2 nights using the below link where hotel rates starts from US$30 to 150/room.

Claridge Hotel for example is a good hotel location during January where a lot of activities is going on during the Shopping Festival (end of Jan) and where the location is very near to the biggest and grandest shopping malls in the UAE.

Good luck!!!

Hotels In Dubai

Laura asks…

Most hotels in dubai have vacant rooms?

is it true that even 3 star hotels have 700+ rooms but only 20-30 rooms have furnished beds since there is a hotel every nook and cranny . my question is, what’s the point of building such huge hotels if there is no much tourism going on?

admin answers:

Your bashing won’t get you your money back! Life is not only in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. All the cities could not be the same and one rule cannot be applied to all.Thats why people try to see as many cities as possible.

A hotel is a one time investment, occupancy depends on circumstances which are always on the change.

Can you tell how many rooms are vacant in Bangkok for the last three months???

Ruth asks…

Which hotels in Dubai allow taking girls to the room for a few hours?

admin answers:

All hotels allow girls in a room as long as they are single and go into the room on their own or when they are married and go into the room with her husband….

Mary asks…

Does hotels in Dubai add an extra 20% to the bill when you pay through Expedia or Opodo?

admin answers:

Gratuities are always added on but remember these are completely optional. We went to Dubai last year and they tried adding excessive gratuites – i think in the end we paid the equivalent of £2.40.

It doesn’t matter if they add them on, take them off!

Linda asks…

Sandy asks…

Dubai hotels?

Hi friends,

Just wondering if it is possible to get a decent hotel in Dubai (possibly downtown area, nearer to the attractions) at ca. 300 AED per night. thanks for the reply in advance….don’t want luxury but clean and cosy, not realy noisy.

admin answers:

I’ve stayed at the Admiral Plaza several times. Its reasonably quiet and clean. Rates can be below your 300 AED budget. Le Meridien also has some rooms at 300 AED. You must be aware that Dubai hotel rates change quite dramatically depending on demand. If there is a large conference or a special event – rates go up fast.

Thomas asks…

Is it true that hotels in Dubai are doing good business despite global economic turmoil?

I heard that Dubai Hotels are full while for hotels in other part of the world are closing down

admin answers:

This is true due to the fact that there are plenty of government events taking place in dubai and abu dhabi. I live in abu dhabi and have been a resident of the UAE for over 30 years.

My observation is that when they have conventions and government forums, they seem to be very disorganized and hold them all at the same time.

Hotel owners and managers have formed a body to communicate to the government that they cannot cope with all the various gov bodies back to back and mostly parralel events that leave many scrambling and hotels at 100% occupancy levels.

This is even true at times such as now when the global economy is in a slump, the mideast and parts of asia have reported the largest growth rates. See the IMF and world bank to get specific numbers.

The other element and factor that adds more fuel to the fire is that many europeans see this part of the workd very cheap to holiday in especially at this time of the year due to climate conditions that are very favourable against summer blaze months.

Hope I have helped :)

David asks…

what is the rules and regulations for staying couples in dubai hotels?

i would like to know the rules and regulations gainst to stay unmarried couples in a hotel room in dubai or a private flat

admin answers:

No problems for tourists. Just sign in with your passport only. In Arab countries it’s common that the wife keeps her maiden name and no marriage certificate is required.

Also when by the Law it’s illegal to live in one room without being married, the UAE turns a blind eye on it for the tourism sake.

To rent a private flat as an unmarried couple is something different. Only the one with a residence visa is able to sign a rental contract and then everything else will mostly depend on the watchmen if any. But – for non Muslims it’s normaly no problem. Just talk about your girlfriend as your wife.

Enjoy your stay.

Dubai Hotels 7 Star

Paul asks…

Does Dubai really have 7 star hotels?

My friend went to Dubai and said that there is extremely rich 7 star hotels over there. I thought you could only get up to 5 star hotels

admin answers:

There are only two hotels in the world that are so called 7 star hotels, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. These ratings are merely to create a marketing hype as the highest rating officially is 5 stars.

George asks…

how many 7 star hotels in the world?

i know 1 BURJ AL ARAB in dubai !!! anything else?

admin answers:

5 star is the common status-not 7.

Chris asks…

where do I get biography of Tom Wright (architect of Burj Al Arab / 7 stars hotel-Dubai) ?

also need other informations, like his photos, his theory about architecture…

admin answers:

Sandy asks…

what does a seven star hotel do differently or better than a five star hotel?

I have just been to Dubai where they have the world’s only 7 star hotel – which got my wife and I wondering what was SO special

admin answers:

The 7 star hotels in Dubai and not officially 7 star hotels. The star system that we are all accustom to only goes up to 5 stars. They call there hotel a 7 star hotel unofficially to boost tourism/marketing and to get people talking. Which in this case it worked!! Haha

Here’s some info:
