Dubai Airport Arrivals

George asks…

2 years ago on a holiday to dubai there was a 2 hour wait to get through the arrivals area of dubai airport at

1.00am are the delays still the same today?

admin answers:

They have not improved much since your last visit. I would also recommend the marhaba. It only cost about $10 and will help you heaps. They will greet your plane and walk you through everything. Good Luck

Maria asks…

Is it possible to obtain tourist visa in Dubai upon arrival at the airport?

I’m living in Saudi Arabia for almost 8 years, I am working as Admin Coordinator in an airline company but in my visa and iqama, my profession is equipment operator.
Will they give me a visa or they will refuse me to enter UAE?
Please help, I want to know so I can spend my Christmas there for 3 days.

Thank you!!

admin answers:

Your profession and salary should be comparable with the position of an accountant or higher.

Also when official rules say: accountant, manager, business men, in general it’s meant: employees (no workers or students) working a job which requieres at least a high school diploma.

Enjoy Dubai!

@Sam – sorry you’re wrong. GCCI residents need a visa and will receive the same up-on-arrival if requirements are fulfilled. A Schengen Visa is something total different.

The Marhaba Lounge is located close to gate 230 at Emirates Terminal 3 and can be accessed via a dedicated elevator from Level 3 departures.

Bookings can be made online at www.marhabaservices.com, by calling +971 4 224 5780 / +971 4 216 2630 or in person at the airport.

Lisa asks…

Is Marhaba lounge in Dubai Int. Airport free?

I’m flying to Manila, Economy class, Emirates, EK334
Now i want to ask if marhaba lounge is free of charge? and if the services inside is free?
And i also want to ask there was like a restaurant lounge in dubai airport, it was free of charge it was exclusively for EK travellers, where is it in the gate place, whats the name?

admin answers:

Dear Friend

Marhaba Lounge in Dubai Int’l Airport is not a free service section.

There is a Restaurant free for Emirates travelers, if the travel transit time exceeds more than 4 hours (i believe so-to be clarified the duration) and you may just show the ticket at the cashier counter of the restaurant, then they will tell you the detail.

I forget the name of the hotel but it is nearby the transit gates. Once I had my lunch there at Emirates Airlines’ free coupon.

Best Regards
Thx

Flight To Dubai

Sharon asks…

How to take transit flight in Dubai airport? How baggage are handled?

I’m traveling from Colombo(CMB) to Istanbul(IST) and I have a transit at Dubai airport.

This is my first time flying on a transit flight, and my first time to Dubai airport, I would like to know how to take the transit flight? I’m now aware of the process involved. Can someone explain what I should do after getting down from the flight.

admin answers:

It’s sort of like any other connecting flight. But in this case ou will stay in the international transit zone of the airport. Meaning you will find your way over to your connecting gate, and your bags will be automatically transferred by the airline. You will not deal with any customs or immmigration in Dubai, since you are not technically entering the county. You MAY have to go through another security check, but that just depends where your connecting gate it.

Now there may be a few variables. Like for example if you connecting to two different airlines, its possible you may have to get your boarding pass for your second flight, but there are clearly marked areas where you will do this. If you are with the same airline, there will be no need to as you will get both boarding passes in Colombo.

Chris asks…

can I take connecting flight in Dubai with Israeli passport?

I want to fly from Jordan to Delhi via Dubai or Bahrain or Abu Dhabi, I have Israeli passport. Is it ok to do this just for transit/connection flight?

admin answers:

To my knowledge, citizens of Israel are denied entry into the United Arab Emirates under any circumstance, even if only for transit purposes. Bahrain, according to the second link below, does not automatically deny Israelis the right to enter the country as other Middle Eastern states do, although they may limit or restrict the entry of Israelis in certain circumstances. I’d personally double-check to see whether you would have issues entering Bahrain for transit, or see whether you can go through another country where Israelis are not denied entry or otherwise restricted.

Sandra asks…

Flights To Dubai

Chris asks…

Is it quick to connect flights in Dubai?

I’m flying shortly to China, from London, and I change ‘planes in Dubai. I am flying with Emirates, so I will be disembarking and reembarking at Terminal 3. However, I only have 90 minutes or so between landing and taking off again. Is it easy to find where to transfer to, and does it take a long time to get to boarding? I think it should be okay, but I managed to miss a couple of connections last year at other airports, so I do not want to do this again!

admin answers:

It depends.
I landed at Dubai for a transfer but discovered the plane was parked so far from the terminal it took a 15 minute bus ride to get there, also the scrum at transfer security took forever. Coming back I transited at night at the security scrum was smaller.
90 minutes should be OK, but only just made my connecting flight.

Ken asks…

Where can I get cheap flights to Dubai?

I am going to Dubai over Christmas to see my husband. I have been looking all day. I can’t find anything! Can fly from anywhere in Europe.

admin answers:

The cheapest fare from LHR to DXB for dep 20 Dec 2008 would be US$ 565.27 (Base Pice $ 307 + Taxes&Fees $ 268.27) by Olympic via Athens. Total Trip Time 10hr 40min

The cheapest non-stop flight from LHR to DXB for dep 20 Dec 2008 would be US$ 963.30 (Base Price $ 698 + Taxes&Fees $ 275.30) by Royal Brunei. Total Trip Time 7hr 10min.

Emirates or BA would cost you much more than the prices mentioned above.

You can browse, compare and book online at home.

Dubai Hotels Near Airport

Sharon asks…

Transit in Dubai airport – Very Confused :( Please Help?

Im off to Australia in June & Im not totally clued up about the whole being in transit thing while on a stop off in Dubai.
Im aware I can leave the airport because ive got a European Passport and visa; But do I need to take my luggage through check out with me…? (Presumably this would just continue onto the next plane i would get on after transit)

Last time I went, I got off the plane and onto a bus thing to get into the airport, but there were 2 stops. people who were getting off at Dubai and people who were getting connecting flights. Which one would I take to get out of the airport? OR would they not let me out because I have a connecting flight?
Ive looked at nearby hotels near the airport, but it states City Tax is not included? Do i pay city tax as i leave the airport? and if so, how much is it?

& When i try to get back into the airport for my connecting flight the next morning, how long before do i need to check in? & do I go back in the same way I came out?

Sorry about the questions – I just want to make sure things run as smoothly as possible :)

Thankyou
I mean – that im not technically on a stop off in dubai – i meant that i am meant to wait in the airport for my connecting flight, which is 10 hours after my arrival in dubai.
but instead of waiting for 10 hours until my next flight, if and how I leave the airport.

sorry for being unclear

admin answers:

You don’t need an 8hrs gap between your flights because as an European passport holder you don’t need a transit visa.

I don’t understand where’s the problem to leave the Airport. Depending at which Terminal you’ll arrive, go through Immigration, claim your luggage and get in one of the cabs waiting in front of each Terminal.

Next morning you have to check in 2 hrs before depature because you go on an international flight. Not knowing which Airline you are taking, I can’t tell you which Terminal you have to go. A hotel receptionist will be able to provide you this information and you just tell the cab driver which terminal you want to get dropped off.

Many information you’ll find in the following link:

http://www.dubaiairport.com/DIA/English/MainMenu/Airport+Guide/Arriving/

If you are still to confused:)) use the Ahlan Service:

http://www.ahlan-dia.com/english/services.html

Tourism tax (6%) will be added to your hotel bill and when visiting any restaurants, bars, etc. Connected to a hotel. Otherwise Dubai is tax free.

Charles asks…

If you are a resident in Dubai or know alot about Dubai; please open! [Easy Points!]?

http://directrooms.com/uae/hotels/gulf-pearl-hotel-dubai-3626.htm#rates

Is that hotel near Dubai International Airport?

admin answers:

Yes – this is very near to the Dubai International Airport. Approximately around 5 kilometers. However, the location of the hotel is within the traffic prone area. The traffic is bad between 12noon to 2pm from Saturday to Thursday.

The hotel though is really for travellers as amenities are really not worth trying for. Life is outside of the hotel.

Goodluck !

Maria asks…

what areas in dubai are best for shopping and gold?

going to dubai for a day…then onto hong kong
i am trying to book a hotel.. but i want to utilise the 1 day i have in dubai to go shopping and do as much as possible.
but i want to book a hotel near airport, and near the best shops/cheapest gold shops
any ideas

admin answers:

If you are staying somewhere near the Airport the best place for shopping is Deira City Center and if you are interested in buying gold things you must go to the Deira Gold Souq and if you are staying near Airport you can take taxi and you will be there in 15 minutes (subject to traffic situation). If youo are looking for gifts for lot of people you should go to the Deira market beside the Gold Souq.
